Gena Smith became the Director of Disability Services at UNC Charlotte in September 2014. Previously, she was Program Director for the Office of Disability Services at Winthrop University for 17 years. She holds an M.Ed. in Counseling and Development from Winthrop and a B.A. in English from Furman University. She had extensive involvement in the Rock Hill area through her work on the Human Rights Committee for York County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs and as a member of the Board of Directors for York County Board of Disabilities and Special Needs. She now lives in Charlotte and is excited to call North Carolina home.
