What are SOAR and Explore?
SOAR is the Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration program. This program assists accepted students with transitioning to UNC Charlotte, allowing students to meet with academic advisors and register for classes. Explore Open Houses allow prospective students the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students, discuss educational goals, and get a real taste of campus life at UNC Charlotte.
Disability Services and the SOAR and Explore programs work together to ensure these events are accessible for attendees. Reasonable and appropriate accommodations can be provided to eligible SOAR participants with disabilities, but plan ahead because prior notification and sometimes documentation is required to ensure accommodations at these events! Be sure that when you register for either SOAR or Explore, you notify staff that you need accommodations in order to participate.
Sign Language Interpreters and Alternate Text
Students needing sign language interpreters or text in alternate format (e.g., Braille) must contact Disability Services and submit documentation at least two weeks prior to their SOAR or Explore date. Every effort is made to address accommodations requested late; however, we cannot guarantee accommodations for late requests.
Accommodations For Other SOAR and Explore Attendees
Parents and other non-student attendees needing disability accommodations should contact the Office of Disability Services.
