Gena Smith became the Director of Disability Services at UNC Charlotte in September 2014. Previously, she was Program Director for the Office of Disability Services at Winthrop University for 17 years. Kristin Kolin is a North Carolina Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Arts in Education from Wake Forest University. She is a Safe Zone Ally, committed to student access, empowerment, and success. Kristin has been with the Office of Disability Services since 2004.
Katie Montie is an alumna of UNC Charlotte and has a Master of Social Work degree from UNC Chapel Hill. Prior to working as ADA Project Coordinator, Katie served as Assistant Director in Disability Services for more than 9 years. She has worked with people with disabilities for over 20 years.
As an Assistive Technology Specialist in the Office of Disability Services Khaleel enjoys working with students, who use Assistive Technology (AT). He provides consultation and support for their access to academic material, instructional technology, and websites. Khaleel provides workshops to faculty and staff members on Universal Design, accessibility, and on how to create accessible courses and instructional material. Nicole Cardamone Cannon joined the Office of Disability Services in July 2015 as a Captionist. Nicole has a B.S. in Business Administration from Winthrop University and an M.S. in Accountancy from the University of South Carolina. Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Nicole worked in public accounting and as a staff accountant for Carolinas Healthcare System. Originally from West Columbia, SC, Nicole has lived in Charlotte since 2007.
Cheron Sutton-Brock joined the Office of Disability Services in February 2017. She has worked in disability services for over 20 years. Dr. Sutton-Brock holds a Doctorate in Public Administration from Capella University, a Master's degree in Psychological Counseling from Marymount University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Syracuse University.
Amanda Rotteck graduated from East Carolina University with her B.S. in Recreational Therapy and is currently a first-year graduate student perusing her masters in Health Administration at UNC Charlotte. She joined The Office of Disability Services in the Fall of 2018 as a Graduate Assistant. Amanda works to provide students with note taker accommodations and ensure individuals have equal access to a functional learning environment.
