Accommodations for SOAR & Explore

SOAR & Explore Events

  • Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) is required for all new students. The SOAR program assists accepted students with transitioning to UNC Charlotte, allowing students to meet with academic advisors and register for classes. Visit the SOAR website to learn more.
    • SOAR offers 2 types of student programs: First-Year SOAR and Transfer SOAR. First-Year SOAR events typically include an overnight stay in University residence hallsHowever, for Summer 2021, all SOAR sessions are virtual, with no overnight stay.
  • Explore Open Houses allow prospective students the opportunity to meet faculty, staff and students, discuss educational goals, and get a real taste of campus life at UNC Charlotte.

Disability Accommodations

Disability Services, Admissions, and New Student and Family Services collaborate to ensure accessibility for attendees to these programs. Students needing reasonable accommodations in order to participate in any part of the programs should contact Disability Services and SOAR or Explore Staff at least three weeks prior to the event date. DS staff are also available to meet with prospective students to discuss our registration process and services. Include requests for accommodations in your SOAR or Explore registration and list the accommodations needed.

Sign Language Interpreters, CART Services, or Alternate Text

Students needing sign language interpreters, CART services, or text in alternate format (e.g., Braille) must contact Disability Services and submit documentation at least 3 weeks prior to their SOAR or Explore date.  Every effort is made to address accommodations requested late; however, we cannot guarantee accommodations for late requests.
